TOSA INU – Health

Breeding Tosa in Europe is relatively short and rare issues. More often we meet them (accept of course the country of origin) must be in the United States, but not Tosa between breeds recognized by the American Association AKC, and therefore import in USA coupled with problems with the registration of dogs in the stud book FCI.
Originally they were in Europe (in the Netherlands) imported only four individuals for a long time formed the basis of these dogs only breed in Europe. It is obvious that such a narrow breeding base entail greater risk of the effects of inherited disease, because other relatives were also dogs from different European countries. This situation is now gradually improving, because despite problems with registration imported to Europe several other individuals primarily in the United States. This gradually improves population and reduces the affinity of dogs, which of course has a positive impact on the health of the population.
Tosa dogs are robust and are therefore not susceptible to disease. Because not breed with extreme exterior features (not excessively lymph not grow oversized, do not over-weight) is taking care of them easier than some other Moles. But they are big dogs, and therefore are growing rapidly and need quality food with balanced nutrients, minerals and vitamins. Especially in development, we should serve quality food in adequate quantities, the dog got in the diet necessary vitamins and minerals, but to him while not so much food. Indelicate approach to the dog in development for immature skeleton may leave permanent consequences, and therefore we must not overload the dog at this time overload. Tosa are resistant to pain and therefore pain associated with overloading or incorrect side as they develop to the point where damage may be irreversible.
Because Tosa is not extreme breed, its average age is roughly equivalent to the age of other comparably sized breeds.
